Job Details

Coordinates, implements and evaluates the organization's infection prevention and control program.
Coordinates the development and evaluation of the organization's infection prevention and control strategies, policies, and planning.
Collects and performs statistical analysis, interpretation and dissemination of healthcare associated infection data, including risk assessment, surveillance priorities, and outcomes analysis.
Monitors local, state and federal regulations and ensures compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies' standards and requirements.
Assists with the development of Infection Prevention educational resources and initiatives.
Monitors research and developments in the field of infection prevention and control to identify best practices.
Assist with orientation and training of personnel and students.
Participates and attends meetings as required and/or assigned.
Prepares periodic reports as requested.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Applied Science, Nursing, Medical Technology, Microbiology, Epidemiology or other related field (Master's degree preferred).
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan (preferred).
Certified Infection Control (CIC) certification required within 2 years of hire.
Minimum 2 years of healthcare related experience.

Additional Details

Membership in either APIC (Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology) or SHEA (Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America).
