The Flight Nurse will provide medical support during air medical evacuations. The Flight Nurse will provide comprehensive care to patients during evacuations and rescue operations aboard aircraft, both fixed wing and rotary. Duties and Responsibilities include stabilizing and preparing patients for transport, providing proper medical care and treatment during transport, diagnosing and treating medical situations while maintaining the highest standard of patient care according to current Company standards, maintaining accurate and thorough records during transport, communicating with transferring nurse upon arrival for patient report, ensuring patient acceptance by the receiving facility and EMTALA compliance, providing complete and concise patient reports to RN or Physician at receiving facility, operating personal computer for basic office support software, attending meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain knowledge of new developments and policies. Qualifications include graduation from an accredited Nursing Program (Associate degree accepted), current unrestricted US Nursing License, 3 years of Flight Nurse or Critical Care experience (minimum 1 year as flight nurse), current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications, completion of US DOT Air Medical Crew Core Curriculum, proficiency with computers and MS Office, adaptability and flexibility in work requirements, recent clinical experience in patient care (6 months out of past year), valid US Driver’s License and Passport, proficiency in English, favorable CNACI investigation by Department of Defense, and signing an International Assignment Agreement. Preferred qualifications include BSN, Advanced Trauma Certification, CCRN, CEN, CCEMTP or similar course, CBIC/CIC certification, and military experience. Physical requirements include medical and dental fitness, ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods, and travel to Kwajalein by air. Acuity International is an equal opportunity employer.
