Job Description

About the Job

The Breakwater Capital Markets practice at Breakwater Strategy is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Associate to join our growing team and support the delivery of our cutting-edge research solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional with a passion for learning and applying both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies in the dynamic world of capital markets.

Why Join Us?

At Breakwater Capital Markets, you’ll be part of a collaborative and values-driven organization where your contributions will make an impact. You’ll have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, gain hands-on experience, and learn from seasoned professionals in the field. Breakwater advises public companies, private corporations, brands, coalitions, and non-profits on navigating change, crises, and complexities.

Who Should Apply?

This role is ideal for someone with 0-2 years of work experience who is eager to learn and develop their skills in research and communications – within a capital markets context. We’re looking for a self-starter who is curious, detail-oriented, and excited to contribute to high-impact projects. If you thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment and are passionate about learning how to help companies navigate market trends and elevate their value, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in drafting research instruments, including screeners, survey questionnaires, and discussion guides.
  • Analyze research results and help create visual presentations of findings with actionable recommendations.
  • Support the management of relationships with research vendors to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of research methods and processes to enhance the Capital Markets practice.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic communications engagements.
  • Assist in new business initiatives through research, proposal development, and pitches.
  • Occasionally travel for research or client engagements.

Attributes

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint); experience with research tools or visualization software is a bonus.
